Life on the Telstra Next G network
About a week ago I attended the iPhone 4 midnight launch (thanks Evelyn for your company!) and have signed up on a $79 cap with Telstra. So far it has been a good experience. The phone runs much faster due to the A4 processor and the Next G network. The most noticeable improvement for me is the camera. Photos look flawless and playback of videos recorded with the phone is pixel perfect on a 27-inch iMac. Reception issue: yes there is a 1-bar drop when I cover the bottom left corner but I have not found any problems whilst making calls. I have ordered a free bumper through the Case Program app.

Up front we give River Penang a 9 out of 10. The fully licensed and BYO Malaysian dine-in and take-away restaurant is situated at Level 1 of the shopping mall and offers quality Malaysian cuisine at reasonable prices. The service was a little flat as they would certainly serve tables with more than 2 people as a priority even for those who come first.
If you do visit River Penang, be sure to try the Penang Char Kway Teow as it is simply one of the best around Brisbane – Gold Coast. A major plus is that they do accept Credit Cards including American Express and EFTPOS so for people like us who don’t carry cash, you are in safe hands.
Addition to the family
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m proud to introduce the 15-inch MacBook Pro to the family. I was slightly embarrassed while walking out of the Apple store whilst everyone in the store, including customers, applauded as if I was Steve Jobs himself at one of his Keynotes.
Half-Life 2 on Mac
I can’t express how much I’m in love with the recent release of Steam on Mac. Portal and Half-Life 2 look pretty sweet and I can’t wait for Counter-Strike: Source.
Kia (Cerato) iPod connection
I’ve gathered that one must purchase a specialised Kia connector cable (around $70) in order to use iPod with the in-car audio system. This allows you to control your iPod through the dashboard interface (select/skip/rewind tracks, volume control and etc). It’s a convenience to have this feature as I find it difficult and dangerous to play with the iPod controls while driving.

I was struggling to resize a disk image in Mac OS X and I stumbled across this post.
hdiutil resize -size xx{m or g} filename.dmg
Example: hdiutil resize -size 1g mydiskimage.dmg

This is possibly one of the best try-hard Chinese restaurants ever. The best thing: the view. The worst thing: the food. If you’ve never been to a high rise and seen glimpses of the ocean and the city then definitely pay a visit to the Four Winds Revolving Restaurant for a lifetime memory.
For under $20, I could have enjoyed a nice Asian all-you-can-eat experience. But at Four Winds, you get exactly that experience plus seafood and a magnificent view for a price that can pay for more than 2 at the all-you-can-eat. Prawn crackers, spring rolls, fried rice, sushi, Thai chili fish, Mongolian beef, and steamed vegies take up the majority of the dishes available at the buffet.
The service is extremely average and a friendly reminder that there is a surcharge if you are thinking about showing off your brand new credit card. A birthday table behind ours paid at least $500 in cash so, if you are thinking about a day-light robbery, be sure to consider the rich patrons visiting Crown Plaza.
