I got an iPhone on the $79 cap with Optus on Thursday ($550 credits + unlimited SMS + 700MB data). Had a lot of problems with my Nokia 6500 slide. The OS kept on freezing and it was hectic trying to make calls or send messages. So, I decided to go for a complete Apple “sensation” with my aluminum unibody MacBook. As expected, Apple products (or should I say recent products?) are just fabulous in both design and functionality.
Speaking of which, I also would like to see Microsoft do something in regards to software and hardware coupling. In my opinion, they’ve never made any products that work together peacefully like Apple. However, I’m really keen to see their “surface” computing devices. I saw a couple of videos on YouTube introducing Windows 7 on multi-touch monitors which is really cool.
I’ve had some trouble typing non-English characters in my WordPress installation. The workaround for me is to modify the wp-config.php file in the root installation directory and modify the line with changes below:
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ‘utf8‘);
Once this was done I could type Thai for instance into a post.
Hi everyone! It’s me, Lily! I’ve been in Port Moresby for a couple of weeks now and here are some photos of me with my family.
I’m learning a new language called Tok Pisin, it’s what they speak in Papua New Guinea. I’ve met lots of new friends whom I play soccer with every afternoon.
My birthday is coming up on Saturday and I got F.E.A.R. 2 and Crysis Warhead. Both games have excellent graphics.
It was just a little disappointing that F.E.A.R. 2 didn’t support my 1360×768 resolution so I have to use a 1280×1024 monitor.
I got this game a while back but I just want to post a screenshot of it. I must say, this is the absolutely the most elaborated game of the century! Everything from plot, setting, to graphics are just gorgeous and the best thing is that I get to play it on my 26″ widescreen TV.
After sitting next to a woman on the train who kept on sneezing for the entire trip to Brisbane, I’m feeling awful with running nose and fever. I don’t know how long more I can handle but I’ve been on Amoxicillin and I’m intending to get some of those “soldier on” meds.
1. MOSS 2007 training: I went to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 training at ITTS in Spring Hill. Quite exciting stuff. I’m pretty keen on getting started with SharePoint Designer to customise applications and its look and feel. My colleagues have pointed me to HeatherSolomon’s blog on SharePoint customisation. She has an amazing CSS Reference Chart outlining major styles used by MOSS and WSS v3 sites.
2. Lily’s away: Grandma took Lily back to Port Moresby for a short visit to give Fon some time to study ASP.NET. Last night I’ve successfully downloaded and installed Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 on two machines. I’m looking forward to learning C# in the near future.
3. I’ve thrown away my LG Viewty. It has pretty bad reception and most of the time it’s on “roaming” for some reason. Now I’m back to my Nokia 6500 slide. Fon also got a new Nokia 6120 classic.
