As one of my hobbies, I enjoy designing websites. I especially love the concept of being able to create websites that work under multiple browsers and platforms, whether it’s Internet Explorer on Windows, Konqueror on Linux, or Safari on Mac.
I do a little freelance web design in my spare times. I’m still building up my portfolio slowly over the years. My first web design experience was when I worked for Magila Motel in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. I was still a teenager back then and that’s when I first got interested in web design with Macromedia Dreamweaver. Their first guest saw the website from UK and made a booking via email. Since then, they made a lot of changes to the site but it’s not updated very often.
During my undergraduate studies, a group of students worked on a project to re-design the website for ActiveSky, a Gold Coast based firm that provides leading online mobile multimedia application development and distribution platform. My team membersworked on Flash animation and various documentations while I worked on the web design.
I recently worked on these website:

Technical information
Most of my web design and coding are done in text editors such as Notepad++ (Windows) and gedit (Linux) as I dislike WYSIWYG editors. I’m an advocate of open source software and free software (OSS/FS). I primarily use GIMP for graphic/image editing and Scribus for desktop publishing. There are a million reasons why you should or shouldn’t use OSS/FS. David A. Wheeler’s paper “Why Open Source Software / Free Software (OSS/FS, FLOSS, or FOSS)? Look at the Numbers!” is a good read on some of the insights.
For the production of my works I use several machines and operating systems including Mac OS X Leopard, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.
For web hosting, I use imhosted.com. They offer some great deals (eg. free lifetime domain, as long as you host with them) and some of the best technical support I have ever encountered. Of course, I always give my clients the freedom of choice for their own preferred domain/hosting services.
